Travel Door Weather-Strip Tip

Flagstaff (and Rockwood) campers come with weather-stripping to seal between the travel door and the roof of the camper. This gray strip doesn't last long because, when closing the travel door with the roof in the down position, the relatively rigid weather-strip hits the roof at a 90-degree angle which starts to tear the end of the weather-strip.

Flagstaff/Rockwood travel door weatherstrip angle problem

We cut the end of the gray strip at a 45-degree angle on the hinge-side of the door.

Flagstaff/Rockwood travel door weatherstrip angle fix completed

The 45-degree angle allows the gray weather-strip to now duck under the roof instead of hitting it head-on and tearing. Please note that opening the travel door with the roof in the down position will bend the gray strip backwards and the strip will eventually fail from the bending motion of opening the door, but this tip will help prolong the life of the gray strip by not tearing when closing the door.
